Our mission is to help young people develop, progress and flourish to the best of their abilities in a safe and caring environment.
We make every effort to provide the youngsters in our care with resource necessary to help them feel comfortable and safe from harm. As well as the information on this website, we also have a Children’s Guide (provided to each of the children in our care upon their arrival) It covers many topics from their rights in care to what happens when you leave care and mentions everything that they will be involved in whilst in our home. Important numbers are included so they can speak to someone in complete confidence should they feel the need to.
We have a complaints pack which is given to each young person on admission, In the unlikely event that they feel they have experienced unsatisfactory care from the staff or other residents in a children’s home, they are aware of who they can go to for support.
Each young person will have their own bedrooms which they can personalise with the staff in the home. All young people will be supported to attend education and make academic progress in line with their individual plans. We understand that young people do struggle with education attendance and we will support attendance in partnership with the education authority and placing authority.
The young people are encourage to do activities they enjoy outside of the home to help build up their social skills and positive interaction with others. This can be with or without staff depending on their individual needs and risk assessments.
Every week our young people each receive personal needs money, pocket money, clothing money, activity money and as an organisation we ensure each young person has saving. The young people can also earn positive consequences which are sometimes of a monetary value. The amounts are set and vary with age.
Holidays will be looked at individually and of course, dependent on their care plan and needs.
Each young person will have an allocated key worker to support them in every day life, with planned key working sessions around their individual needs, care plans and placement plans.
Weekly or monthly reports are produced by the key workers, to share the progress with the placing authority. The staff team and the home manager will promote effective communication with the placing authority to ensure we are promoting effective working in partnership for each young person in our care.
